Hygiene kits are a life-saving gift
In addition to our medical equipment and supply recovery and redistribution, we are proud of our efforts to improve healthcare on a basic level through a hygiene kit. This life-saving gift includes a hand towel, wash cloth, fingernail clippers (not toe nail clippers), bath-size bar soap (3 oz. or larger), single toothbrush in package (no child-sized), tube of toothpaste (4.5 oz. or larger), Band-aids, and a comb (large and sturdy). All these items are then packaged in a one gallon zip lock bag - many times by our volunteers at Mission Outreach.
These kits are used as learning tools in literacy, hygiene, nutrition, and health classes throughout the world. They are also distributed to people who understand personal hygiene, but have limited resources.
Recently, we received an email from our friends of Kenya Relief who shared these hygiene kits with the villagers who come to their clinic for care. "We have seen God use Kenya Relief to break down the walls of tribalism. The clinic provides care to all regardless of their social, economic or tribal backround. Is not this a central part of the gospel? In the past we had only Christians attending our clinic but today we see Muslims, Hindus and people of other religions coming freely because they see compassion and quality care given to everyone who enters our clinic. Thank you for these hygiene kits. People who receive them are taught the importance of hand washing and clipping of their nails to decrease the transmission of diseases. We also recently visited the District Hospital and shared the kits and education with young mothers. We then visited the schools and instructed the older children on how to use these kits with their younger brothers and sisters."
